Mole Basics

Welcome to Lola Aesthetics & Medi Spa, where we offer mole removal services to help you achieve clear, blemish-free skin. Our skilled professionals provide safe and effective treatments to address unwanted moles and skin lesions.

Mole removal typically involves a simple procedure performed by our trained dermatologists or aesthetic practitioners. Depending on the size, type, and location of the mole, techniques such as surgical excision, laser therapy, or cryotherapy may be utilized. These methods effectively remove the mole while minimizing scarring and discomfort.

What causes moles to grow?

Moles, also known as nevi, develop when cells in the skin known as melanocytes grow in clusters instead of spreading out evenly throughout the skin. The exact cause of why some people develop more moles than others is not fully understood, but several factors may contribute to their formation:

  1. Genetics: Family history plays a significant role in determining the number and type of moles a person may have. Individuals with a family history of multiple moles are more likely to develop them themselves.

  2. Sun Exposure: Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or tanning beds can trigger the growth of moles and increase their number. Sun exposure can also darken existing moles and raise the risk of developing abnormal or cancerous moles.

  3. Hormonal Changes: Hormonal fluctuations during puberty, pregnancy, or hormonal therapy can influence the development of moles. Pregnant women often experience an increase in the number and size of moles due to hormonal changes.

  4. Age: Moles can develop at any age, but they are more common in children and adolescents. The number of moles tends to increase until around the age of 30, after which they may stabilize or decrease.

  5. Fair Skin: People with fair skin are more prone to developing moles than those with darker skin tones. Additionally, individuals with light-colored hair and eyes may have a higher risk of developing moles.

Common FAQ

Most mole removal procedures are performed under local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Patients may experience mild discomfort during the procedure, but post-treatment pain is typically minimal and manageable.

Recovery time varies depending on the removal method used and the size of the mole. In general, healing typically takes one to two weeks. Our practitioners provide detailed aftercare instructions to promote proper healing.

While mole removal is generally safe, there is a slight risk of infection, scarring, or changes in skin pigmentation. Our experienced practitioners take precautions to minimize these risks and ensure optimal outcomes for our patients.
